Organisation, the Super Nerdy Obsessive Way.

So, one of my goals for 2016 is to be more organised and to make more of my time, among other things. Organisation is something I struggle with. I’m inherently disorganised and have real issues remembering simple things like, what exactly it was that I intended to get done on my day off. No lie. I have to write multiple lists. My parents have to email me regularly to remind me to do things. It’s a real problem. I also get easily distracted and sucked in by things like the YouTube vortex or my Facebook news feed. I can literally waste hours.

At work, somehow, I manage to do stuff. I still have my lists and a calendar in my classroom. And my teacher planner. And multiple post it notes… Whatever, I feel more in control. It’s like I switch on my teacher brain and BAM! Things get done. Then I get home and for some reason it all falls apart. Well, that’s how it feels. I don’t doubt I’m being too hard on myself, hard but realistic. Ish. Last year I had both a desk diary and year planner in my kitchen/office as well as my handbag diary and my phone calendar. It sufficed but, I dunno, this year I felt I needed to up my game.

So far, along with my light and sound Star Wars desk calendar and handbag diary, I also have an app to remind me to work on my book, and each night before I go to bed, I mentally run through my day, like a visualised dress rehearsal just to make sure I don’t miss anything. However, today, today I got the piece de resistance, a wipe clean, magnetised weekly planner, to-do and shopping list. I cannot begin to explain how excited I am for this. I can note on each day the things I need to get done, like, Monday, plan year 7 cover lesson, Tuesday, mark year 12 and 13 blogs and run, Friday, strength and flex at mum and dad’s and so on. I genuinely feel like I’m gonna get on top of stuff this year.

I’m not even going to give any thought to how sad this might seem, or if it might mean I have some kind of problem. All I know is, whiteboard pen in hand, magnetised planner at the ready, 2016 I got this! Plus it looks really pretty with my organiser pegs all on my fridge. Look!
